„Du Chef, also der Herr Müller, der hat gestern im Meeting schon wieder zwei anderen das Wort abgeschnitten. Der benimmt sich doch echt unmöglich, findest Du nicht auch?"
„Hast Du schon mit Herrn Müller selbst darüber gesprochen?"
„Nein, ich dachte das bespreche ich erstmal mit Dir, damit Du eingreifen kannst.»
„Ok, und was erwartest Du von mir? Wie wäre es denn, wenn Du erstmal selbst mit ihm redest?"

🇩🇪„Stefan, wage es nicht, mir diese Schwachsinns-Idee mit dieser blöden Innovation zu präsentieren. Nur über meine Leiche.“ Stille. Totenstille. Stefan leitet das wichtigste Meeting seines Jahres, viele Top-Manager sind im Raum und 25 Augenpaare starren ihn an. Er antwortet: „Lieber Chef, ich bitte Dich, 15 Minuten in Ruhe zuzuhören und dann zeige ich Dir, warum diese dumme Idee vielleicht die beste Investition für Deine nächsten 5 Jahre ist.” Wieder Stille, diesmal jedoch alle Augen auf seinen Chef gerichtet. Was macht er jetzt? Ausflippen? Rumbrüllen? Nein, er lächelt, schweigt und hört zu. Doch dieses Verhalten war für niemanden hilfreich. Es war...

Imagine this situation:

"Stefan, don't you dare present this bullshit idea with this stupid innovation. Over my dead body." Silence. Dead silence. Stefan is chairing the most important meeting of his year. Many top managers are in the room, Stefan is chairing the meeting. 25 pairs of eyes are glued to him. He answers: "Dear boss, I ask you to listen quietly for 15 minutes and then I will show you why this stupid idea might be the best investment for your next 5 years. Silence again, this time all eyes on his boss. What is he doing now? Freaking...

Kennst Du das auch aus Deiner Führungs-Realität? Dein Mitarbeiter tut etwas, was aus Deiner Perspektive überhaupt keinen Sinn macht. Du warst fest überzeugt, er liefert nun endlich die versprochenen Ergebnisse eines sehr wichtigen multifunktionalen Projekts. Du hast einen Termin mit ihm und freust Dich auf die Ergebnisse. Und dann kommt folgender Satz: „Ja, liebe Chefin, tut mir echt Leid, aber ich kann nichts dafür. Mein eigener Teil ist komplett fertig und richtig gut geworden. Aber diese anderen Teile des Projekts hat Finanz nur halb, Vertrieb zu spät und Produktion überhaupt nicht geliefert."

Was machst du jetzt? Wutausbruch und Rumschreien helfen...

What is more important, strategy or execution? Today, with many years of experience in strategy and leadership Stefan's answer is "both are important”. Most important is the strategy your customers perceive, the strategy you execute.

„Oh no! My initiative risks endangering people in the worst case and it risks completely missing our goals as a team next year. And it's my fault! Ahhh..."

This is roughly how Stefan's mental cinema went when he developed a multifunctional initiative for the next financial year in a global company more than 30 years ago. In reality, the big problem was a small risk and easy to control.

What could Stefan have done better?

Clarify instead of getting upset. Because getting worked...

Es ist Anfang März, was beutetet: Es ist wieder Zeit für die LEITWOLF Learnings des Monats.

„Oh nein! Meine eigene Initiative riskiert im schlimmsten Fall, Menschen zu gefährden und sie riskiert, unsere Ziele als Team im nächsten Jahr komplett zu verfehlen. Und ich bin schuld! Aahhh..."

Ungefähr so lief Stefans Kopfkino ab, als er vor über 30 Jahren in einem globalen Unternehmen eine multifunktionale Initiative für das nächste Geschäftsjahr entwickelte. In Wirklichkeit war das große Problem nur ein kleines Risiko und leicht zu beherrschen.

Was hätte Stefan besser machen können?

Klären statt aufregen! Denn sich aufregen wegen jeder Unklarheit kostet...

Kennst Du auch Menschen, die Du richtig gut findest? Die Du als erfolgreich wahrnimmst? Was unterscheidet diese Menschen von anderen? Was tun sie konkret? Was machen sie anders?

Stefan hatte in seinen 25 Jahren in der Corporate World 16 Chefs und ungefähr 150 direkte Mitarbeiter. Er hatte großes Glück, mit vielen guten Führungskräften zu arbeiten. Deshalb stellt er sich die Frage: Was unterscheidet die vielen Guten von den wenigen Allerbesten?
